Why Choose Helena.

The elegant state capital of Montana is Helena. Like many of the other locations here in our beautiful state, Buzz Tatom is not only a top realtor, but is well versed in the the what to do’s in the area. Helena is as Historic as it is beautiful being originally established in 1864 as a gold camp during the Montana Gold Rush. Because of this, you will see some of the most beautiful “Victorian” architecture around.

Helena is a nice quiet location to find a ranch for sale in Montana whether it be for recreation use, or to move a family to. The population in town is 31,000 while the entire micropolitan that includes Lewis and Clark County is over 77k. With that being said you will learn there is plenty to do inside and outside of town to keep you busy for a lifetime.

For the outsdoorsman in you there are enough trails, and climbing adventures to keep you busy.

Rock Climbing:

As of 2017 Mount Helena City Park became the first city-owned park that has allowed established rock climbing. You can find the the wall only about a mile from the designated parking area. Mount Helena can be a difficult climb and can range from 60 to 120 feet. Because of this it is heavily recommended you start with an instruction course at Stonetree Climbing Center. They offer instruction courses for beginners to help you prepare accordingly to have some fun. It is always advised to go with an experienced climber and make sure you have all the required safety equipment.

Fly-fishing or any fishing for that matter can be a way of life for some. There is no shortage of that in the surrounding area of Helena as well. Whether its Lake Helena, Hauser Lake, or the Nationally renown Missouri River, you can’t go around on your fishing expeditions.

Cross Country Skiing:

One of the hundreds of things to appreciate in being in the great up north of the central United States has to be Cross Country Skiing. To some, nothing is more beautiful than the snow covered mountains and plains that take place over the winter. If you’re just getting your feet wet (Pun intended), you should consider going out to Bill Roberts Golf Course. This flat plains is a great adventure for beginners to get a grasp of things. Now if you’re experienced, then look no further than Stemple Pass. Stemple pass offers not only a challenging cross country skiing experience, but quite possibly one of the most captivating views you will see. Stemple pass sits on the notorious Continental divide with 3 basic routes. 1.2 miles is the easiest, 12.4 miles is your intermediate, 6.2 miles may not be the longest but is the most difficult trail.

What is there to eat:

Food, food, and more food! Helena boasts a wide variety of non “chain” restaurants. Want hand crafted pizza? Look no further than “Bridge Pizza”, craving Mexican? “El Taqueria” offers handmade Hispanic dishes. Whether you are looking for, burgers, fine dining, Chinese, basically you name it Helena has got it!

Other than Food:
Helena is loaded with other attractions or things to do as well other than just eating. Art Galleries, bowling, mini golf, the coveted natural hot springs, so on so forth its almost never ending.

These are just a few of the things this amazing city has to offer.
